Gaim v2 Beta 2

The next Beta of Gaim has been released.  You can get it from their sourceforge site.  There are a few changes that I noticed right away that were in Beta 1.

Here you can see the connection status and away message textbox are a lot smaller.  They also removed the status for each protocol.  A lot of people did not like the new smooth scroll feature. You can now disable it in the preferences.

Their site also said:

“Gaim 2.0.0 beta 2 does not include voice or video (”vv”) support for any protocols. We’ve done some work toward vv compatibility for Google Talk, but it isn’t ready for the general public yet. It is unlikely this will change for the final release of Gaim 2.0.0, but vv will be a primary focus for the next major release of Gaim after that.”

This was a feature I was looking forward to.  I guess this release is just turning into a code cleanup with few new features.  I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
